A squirming three-year-old's trip to the dentist can be stressful - for both the child and the parent.
Will it be unpleasant? Will my child behave?
Dr. Amy DeYoung has designed her pediatric dental practice to help children of all ages, and their parents, conquer their fears of dentistry with a fun, innovative, and engaging new space.
"I knew what I wanted to include in this space," explained Dr. DeYoung, who decided to build her own office space after leasing for 10 years. "I wanted a classic exterior, a friendly and spacious reception area, a bright and fun treatment area, plenty of storage space for my various theme decorations, and ample room for my eleven staff to work efficiently. Mostly, I wanted a space that made my patients and their families feel comfortable."
The First Companies team, led by Craig Baker and Craig Schroeder, was tasked with constructing the new building and making Dr. DeYoung's vision a reality. They knew immediately the design needed to be more than just child-friendly; it needed to be brought to life.
"I chose First Companies because of their expertise within the dental industry," said Dr. DeYoung. "Their collective knowledge of the intricacies involved in designing and developing a dental space was exactly what I was looking for in my construction company."
First Companies was also tasked with moving and retrofitting a log cabin playhouse, built by Dr. DeYoung's late father, from her previous location.
"Our log cabin is very special to me and has become the centerpiece of my decor," Dr. DeYoung explained. "Craig Schroeder and his team carefully disassembled the cabin and moved it piece-by-piece to our new building. Once there, they added a new wall and a new window to ensure it fit into its new home. The finished product is absolutely perfect. It's like the cabin has always been in our new facility!"
Dr. DeYoung broke ground on the new building in June of 2010. The project was complete and fully operational in December, just six months later.
"Our project was completed under budget and ahead of schedule," noted Dr. DeYoung. "I was truly impressed by the collaboration and respect demonstrated by all those who worked on this project. It was a wonderful team effort, directed by First Companies."
